‘IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER’ – NWH GROUP STRENGTHENS ITS LEADERSHIP WITH ANOTHER SEVEN HARSH SKIPS AND HOOKS

The NWH Group of Dalkeith is in the process of adding another seven HARSH – fitted trucks to its fleet, reinforcing its position as the UK’s No. 1 customer for HARSH bodywork. Three of the vehicles are 18t Scania XTs fitted with HARSH HS14 skiploaders with another two identical platforms going on MAN chassis. The remaining two trucks are Scania XT 8x4s supplied with HARSH HH26 hookloaders.
“Aside from their fully proven performance, the HARSH product just keeps getting better and better” says NWH Executive Director Craig Williams. “For example, these latest highly robust skiploaders now have a hydraulically operated sheeting system where the sheets easily cover even our largest bins, thereby significantly adding to load security and safety.
As an added bonus, their hydraulic operation will inevitably prove to be much more reliable than electric when the trucks are working in bad or wet weather. Anything that reduces the possibility of unplanned downtime is always welcome in our fleet.”
Following this theme, NWH Group invariably chooses a high specification for its vehicles as it looks for the optimal combination of performance, long term reliability and complete driver satisfaction.
HARSH plays a key part here by offering its skiploaders with full wireless remote control – this operating system being recently upgraded with a new, larger, easy to use smooth – surface ‘smartphone’ type handset. By affording drivers complete 360 degrees viewing around their vehicles, precise placement of skips becomes easy and the chances of mishap entirely avoided.
Similarly, the new Scania skiploaders have been specified with both the heavy duty XT chassis with front under-run protection and the spacious P cab. With their HARSH bodywork, these trucks are as high a specification as any skiploader could reasonably be.
But for NWH it’s not just the HARSH product that’s a clear winner – the HARSH after sales support package is unbeatable too, with Scottish / Northern England service points based in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Newcastle. A recent call-out from NWH over a small technical issue saw an on-site service response in less than three hours, thereby allowing the truck to keep working with zero downtime.
Now one of the UK’s leading waste management and recycling businesses, family – owned NWH Group operates ten sites serving the whole of Scotland and North East England. Additional activities include bulk waste haulage, muckshifting and tipper work, grab hire and the supply of sand, aggregates and concrete.
Despite having such a wide operating portfolio, skiploaders and hookloaders remain core to the NWH business, and HARSH is delighted to be able to contribute to the company’s strong and steady growth.
“In its field, HARSH really does have the complete package” says Craig Williams. “Everything just works.”
