THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS – TO PRESTON!
THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS – TO PRESTON!
Long regarded for its highly individual set of trucks, Preston – based Pete Marquis Contractors has just introduced a new tribute vehicle into its fleet, this one dedicated to none other than The Dark Knight, the singular comic book superhero Batman! Combining a new hi-spec HARSH skiploader unit mounted on a DAF LF 18t chassis, ‘The Dark Knight’ will be cleaning up Preston and its environs with no less energy and overall effect than how Batman himself tackled all the ills of Gotham City.
“Whether used in residential or industrial work, the new ‘Batman’ adds another string to our capability in keeping the neighbourhoods of Preston clean and tidy” says company boss Pete Marquis. “Having high visibility trucks like these also gives us instant recognition and lets people see that we’re doing our job – and doing it well. We genuinely love our work – and it’s even better if we can make it a bit of fun too.”
This latest truck is significant in that it is the first with HARSH equipment to join the Pete Marquis fleet. Specifically designed for 18t gvw operation, the skip unit is the popular HARSH HS14T, built to CHEM TS16 standard in Hardox and Domex, and offering a 14t lift capacity.
For Pete Marquis, this standard unit has been specified with a wide number of options including the latest HARSH ‘Skip n’Go’ fully adjustable hydraulic sheeting system, rear facing LED lighting to the platform, a fold-away nearside safety access ladder, remote wireless radio control operation (whilst also retaining standard bodyside levers), double lifting chains plus a pair of rear mounted ‘flip – outs’ that extend the effective length of the skiploader’s floor. This latter option affords increased versatility and deck space when carrying larger containers or multiple empty skips.
Now one of Lancashire’s best known businesses in the construction / demolition and waste handling sectors, Pete Marquis operates a huge variety of trucks that include tippers, hookloaders, skiploaders, machinery carriers and low loaders – giving the company an unmatched ability to move almost anything, anywhere, for anyone.
“These days, it’s all about having the maximum possible versatility and capability” says Pete, “because what we’ll be doing tomorrow won’t be the same as what we’re doing today. Working with HARSH on this new truck has been a real pleasure – they have seen exactly where we are coming from and put together the ideal finished product. That’s the kind of ‘one to one’ personal service we really want.”
Speaking for HARSH, Jason Bramall, Business Development Manager for northern England comments “The skiploader we have produced for Pete Marquis illustrates perfectly that HARSH will always go the extra mile to give a customer exactly the vehicle they want. In turn, this gives us an ever greater understanding of all the business sectors we work in, to the ultimate benefit of continuous, long term product improvement.
I’d particularly like to thank Pete for placing his faith in HARSH for the first time, and wish his business every success with the new truck.”
