HARSH OPENS NEW SERVICE FACILITY IN PETERBOROUGH
HARSH COMMITS TO AN ‘A1’ STANDARD OF UK SERVICE WITH A NEW
COMPANY – OWNED FACILITY IN PETERBOROUGH
To drive home its commitment to providing the highest levels of customer service, HARSH has opened a new company – owned facility in Peterborough offering a full range of locally – based sales and service activities. As well as directly benefiting operators in East Anglia and the East Midlands, HARSH Peterborough will play a key role in further developing HARSH’s aftersales activities nationwide.
Based just off the A47 at 58 The Causeway, Thorney, Peterborough, the facility is a major investment for HARSH, giving the company its own premises in a key area of the UK road haulage industry. With overall direction from Business Development Manager Harry Hustler, the facility is managed by Matt Bryant and currently has a staff of four.
Matt explains the thoughts behind the new development as follows “In the last two years, HARSH has seen a rapid expansion of its business in the Eastern England, especially in East Anglia, the East Midlands and the Home Counties. Having our own facility here in the region will therefore be of real significance to local operators and hence further secure HARSH’s continued growth.
By being close to the A1 we can also get to anywhere around north and east London within an hour.”
Additional to the large numbers of 8×4 rigids engaged in quarrrying, the East Anglia and Lincolnshire areas also see a great many 44t artics working with bulk trailers on agricultural duties or walking floors and vacuum tankers on recycling and waste work. For HARSH, this means a big opportunity to supply and fit both wet kits to tractors as well as sheeting systems to tipping trailers.
As Harry Hustler notes “we are now supplying more tractor kits than ever, whether these trucks are used with tipping trailers, ejectors or walking floors. People really like the fact that our systems are easy to fit, easy to use, lightweight and reliable. Now is the time for HARSH to be able to offer a more local and expanded level of service to operators in this region.
We’ve also built some really strong relationships with the chassis dealers in the area which means that they fully trust our expertise to fit their tractor units with optimum hydraulic solutions – whatever the ultimate customer use and requirement.
For sheets, HARSH is also the only UK manufacturer able to offer every type of front to back or side to side sheet, and with the option of operation by electric, hydraulic, manual or even solar power. Additional to the market for sheets on rigid tippers, trailers typically have a working life of around 15 years, so it’s very likely that they will all need at least one replacement sheet at some point in their working lives.”
As well as tipping equipment, HARSH is now one of the UK’s market leaders in supplying skiploaders and hookloaders, having been active in the waste and environmental services sectors for over 10 years. The new Peterborough depot will therefore be able to offer skip and hook operators in the East Midlands and East Anglia significantly enhanced product support thanks to steadily developing in-house workshop facilities and a first class parts availability.
Having already achieved ISO9001 accreditation, HARSH Peterborough’s extensive site provides secure CCTV parking for up to 30 trucks or trailers.
The key activities offered by HARSH Peterborough are:
* Bespoke hydraulic solutions for all types of trucks and trailers
* Supply and fitting of tractor wet kits
* Installation and servicing of tipping cylinders
* Supply and fitting of sheeting systems
* General workshop repairs
* Trade parts counter with rapid parts delivery throughout the area
- On-site servicing and VOR support as required
Emphasizing the importance of providing local customer support, HARSH Peterborough is already seeing brisk business in ‘over the counter’ parts sales for key everyday items such as ram seals, hydraulic hoses, couplings and oil tanks, with larger or more individual items also readily available by overnight delivery. All vehicle servicing requirements are also closely co-ordinated with Rob Geesing who heads up HARSH’s Service Department at the company’s HQ outside York.
Commenting on the opening of the new premises, HARSH Managing Director Adam Hargreaves says “Having a company owned facility in the East of England is a major strategic move for HARSH, putting us right in the centre of one of the most important areas of the UK’s road transport industry.
Of equal significance, our dual locations in Peterborough and York now give truck operators an unprecedented level of backup and support along the whole length of the A1 from the Scottish Borders to the M25.
Our Peterborough facility shows that we are fully committed to delivering a responsive, efficient, and highly effective aftersales service wherever it is needed.”
