NO CHANGE HERE THEN!

HARSH UNDERFLOORS SINCE ‘YEAR DOT ON ALL DAVID HODGES’ TOP – SPEC TIPPERS

Currently running nine tippers, every time Beverley – based David Hodges specifies a new tipper he wastes no time on choosing the tipping gear, because it’s always a HARSH underfloor.

“We’ve chosen these tipping gears from ‘year dot’“ says David, adding “the K110 is just an unbeatable piece of kit. It’s unmatched for stability and safety, is totally reliable and hence makes a real contribution to the overall performance of the truck. For new vehicles,  there’s nothing else comparable – the HARSH really selects itself.”

David’s latest tipper is a real head – turner; a beautifully turned out 460hp big cab Volvo FH complete with a Weightlifter insulated alloy body, a custom – made HARSH ‘Union Jack’ sheeting system and polished aluminium wheels.

“We want our trucks to present a totally positive and professional image, whilst also being attractive to drivers and the public at large” says David, whilst also noting that “having really top-notch vehicles also secures maximum residual values when they are eventually sold on.”

Offering an easy 19 tonnes plus payload, the new truck joins other Volvo and Renault 8x4s in the David Hodges fleet working on a wide variety of tasks from hot tar road resurfacing through to general sand and aggregates duties, which currently include shifting large quantities of imported stone coming into Hull docks.

Unladen weight is obviously important – though not at the expense of performance and reliability – which is why the new Volvo’s aluminium body has an increasing floor thickness running from 6mm at the front to 8mm at the rear.

“Whatever the spec of truck, it’s equally the level of after sales service we get that counts when choosing new vehicles” says David. “HARSH is local, Weightlifter is just over the Humber Bridge and Volvo is right here in Hull, so the resulting combination meets our needs perfectly.”

The new FH also features a full-size ‘Union Jack’ side to side hydraulic sheeting system, designed and fitted by HARSH at their HQ outside York.

With the market for new tippers currently exceptionally strong, David is already considering ordering another vehicle to replace an older truck in the fleet in 2022.

“One key fact about the HARSH gear is that by reducing the potential for accidents or damage it helps protect our investment in the whole vehicle. Residual values for really good tippers are currently at an all-time high, so it makes sense to keep the fleet fresh and updated, not least helping us to maximise on all the latest cost – saving technologies” he adds.
